QR Codes
QR Code Generator — Complete Guide
How the QR code studio works: 12 content types, custom design with logos and colours, Fixed vs Trackable codes, editable short links, and scan analytics.
Last updated
The QR Code Studio creates QR codes for almost anything a seller or small business needs — a website, a business card, Wi-Fi, a UPI payment, a WhatsApp chat — and lets you style them to match your brand. Codes come in two kinds: Fixed (free) and Trackable (editable and measured).
Content types
Pick what the code should do, then fill in the fields for that type:
| Type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Website | Opens any web link |
| Text | Shows a plain message |
| Business card (vCard) | Saves a contact — name, phone, email, company, address |
| Wi-Fi | Shares a network name and password |
| UPI payment | Opens a UPI app pre-filled with your VPA (and optional amount) |
| Starts a WhatsApp chat with an optional prefilled message | |
| Phone | Dials a number |
| SMS | Prefills a text message |
| Composes an email with subject and body | |
| Location | Opens a map pin at a latitude/longitude |
| Event | Adds an event to the calendar |
| Social / review | Links a profile or a review page |
Fixed vs Trackable
This is the most important choice in the studio.
- Fixed (a.k.a. static) — the content is encoded directly into the image. It works forever, needs nothing hosted, and is completely free to download — but it cannot be changed or tracked. Best for one-off codes where the destination never changes.
- Trackable (a.k.a. dynamic) — the image encodes a short link (
/q/…) that we host and resolve. You can edit the destination anytime and see scan analytics. It costs Blue Coins because there’s a live link and history behind it. Best for anything printed at scale, anything you might repoint later, or anything you want to measure.
A good rule: if it goes on something expensive to reprint — packaging, a banner, a business card — make it Trackable.
Design & branding
Every code can be styled to match your brand while staying scannable:
- Colours — foreground and background, or a two-colour gradient; presets for quick starts.
- Module shape — square, rounded, dots, or classy.
- Eye shape — square, rounded, or circle (the three corner markers).
- Logo — drop your logo into the centre.
- Caption — a short label under the code, such as “SCAN ME”.
- Quiet zone — the margin around the code.
Scannability is protected automatically. When you add a logo, a gradient, or a stylised module shape, the studio raises the QR error-correction level so the code still reads reliably. You can also set error correction manually (L/M/Q/H) under advanced options.
How to use it
- Open the QR Code Studio.
- Step 1 — Content: choose a type and fill in its fields.
- Step 2 — Design: set colours, shapes, a logo, and a caption; the live preview updates as you go.
- Choose Fixed or Trackable.
- For Fixed, just download as PNG or SVG — free, no account needed. For Trackable, sign in, name the code, and create it (the button shows the Blue Coin cost first); you’ll get a short link to copy or share.
Use SVG for print — it scales without blurring — and PNG for screens.
Managing Trackable codes
Everything you save as Trackable lives under My QR codes:
- Edit the destination — repoint a printed code without reprinting it.
- Pause / resume — temporarily show an “unavailable” page without losing history.
- Analytics — total scans, the last 7 days, a 30-day trend, and a breakdown by country and device.
- Delete — remove a code and its short link.
Blue Coins & access
- Fixed codes are free — design and download as many as you like, no account required.
- Trackable codes cost a small number of Blue Coins to create, because we host an editable short link and record scans. New accounts get free Blue Coins to try it, and the exact cost is shown on the button before you commit (an admin can adjust it).
- Only creating a Trackable code uses Blue Coins — editing its destination and viewing analytics are free.
Tips
- Print from SVG for crisp results at any size; reserve PNG for screens.
- Keep a clear quiet zone and good contrast — very light gradients on white scan poorly.
- Always test-scan a real print before ordering a large run.
- For anything you might change later, choose Trackable — it is the difference between reprinting and editing one field.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between a Fixed and a Trackable QR code?
- A Fixed code (sometimes called “static”) has the content baked into the image — it works forever but cannot be edited or tracked. A Trackable code (“dynamic”) encodes a short link we host, so you can change the destination later and see how many times it was scanned, and where.
- How much does it cost?
- Fixed codes are completely free — design and download them straight from the browser, no account needed. Trackable codes cost a small number of Blue Coins to create (shown on the button first), because we host an editable short link and record scan analytics.
- Will a styled code with a logo still scan?
- Yes. Error correction is raised automatically when you add a logo, a gradient, or fancy module shapes, so the code stays reliably scannable. Always test a print before mass-producing.
- Can I edit a Trackable code after printing it?
- Yes — that is the point of Trackable codes. The printed image never changes, but you can repoint its destination anytime from “My QR codes”, and every scan is counted.
- What can I do if a link stops working?
- Open “My QR codes”, and edit or pause the code. Pausing shows an “unavailable” page to anyone who scans it, without deleting your scan history.
